Hostblock is a program that lets you create and edit a list of sites that you don´t want to visit.
There are lots of web pages out there that try to carry traffic to their sites, in order to sell you things, through ads. This program modifies Windows´ HOSTS file (a system file that you will find in c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts), adding entries from the developer´s site, This entries will not be opened from ANY browser or any other program (like, say, ICQ or Windows Live Messenger) in your system. You will not need to have Hostblock open, you only need to run it when you want to update the list, or export it to pass it to other people. You will not even need the program to edit the HOSTS file, any text editor will do.
Hostblock will add an option in the context menu of Internet Explorer, that will allow you to add the address referred in a link to the Black List. The program will run in any Windows 2000, XP, NT and 7. In order to modify the HOSTS file you will need administrator rights.
